For this multi-location industrial photography and videography assignment, we travelled to four manufacturing sites and covered each facility using ground-level photography, videography and drone imaging.
One of the most time-consuming challenges was ensuring that the factory floors, machines and technicians were ready for filming. Since the final photographs and videos were intended for an international client, we paid particular attention to PPE and overall presentation.
Whenever a technician appeared without adequate PPE, or a machine or floor area required cleaning, I asked the on-duty floor manager to arrange the required PPE and housekeeping immediately before filming continued.
The Vasai factory was located between other manufacturing units, with several overhead cables and limited open space around the plant. This made drone positioning more difficult.
Instead of launching the drone from inside the factory premises, we operated it from the main road. This provided a safer flight path while still allowing us to capture the required aerial photographs and video footage.
The Indore facility was one of the cleanest factories we had filmed. The clean floors, walls and machinery gave us greater freedom to photograph and film the plant from multiple angles.
We did not have to constantly avoid dirty walls, floor muck or other visually distracting areas while composing the shots.
For the Pune locations, we deliberately scheduled one full shooting day for each factory, from morning to evening.
The objective was to document each facility comprehensively and avoid finishing the assignment with too few photographs or insufficient video footage of important operations.
